Alba Longa

According to the tradition, Alba Longa is the latin town founded in the XII century b.C., from where Rome was founded four centuries later. The town was destroyed in the VII centry b.C. The classic texts indicate its position upon a ridge at the foot of the Mons Albanus, the present Monte Cavo.
The position of Alba Longa has never been established with certainty. Almost twenty hypotheses exist on its location. The most realistic among them presume a position upon the rim of the Albano lake.

Rocca di Papa is located at a few kilometers from the Albano crater. The roman basalt road (Via Sacra) on the slope of the Monte Cavo is well preserved. It is located at a 20 minutes walking distance from the apartment.
